Unit 1: Music and Faith

Mark Lawson

This unit pairs modern church music and biblical hymns with the music today's youth enjoy, helping teens think about their relationships with God and others. Across four sessions drawn from the Psalms, Colossians, and Exodus, students explore how music leads them to reflect on their relationship with God, examine their responsibilities to others, find comfort during difficult times, and recognize how God is at work in the stories of their own lives. These sessions help young people see that music has always been a powerful vehicle for faith—expressing deep emotions, telling important stories, and connecting believers to the God who meets them in song.

Unit 2: First John

Don and Kathy Deavers

This unit introduces the First Letter of John and helps teenagers reflect on what it means to walk in God's light and live out an active, embodied faith. Over four sessions, students examine the thoughts and actions that break down their relationship with God, wrestle with the influence of materialism on their faith, explore what it means to show love to people who are different from them, and discover what it truly means to believe and confess that Jesus is the Son of God. These studies help teens see that genuine Christian faith is not simply a matter of words or rituals, but of how one lives.

Unit 3: Pressure to Succeed

Eric Bjork

This unit explores biblical views on success and failure, challenging teenagers to see these concepts through a lens very different from the one the world offers. Across four sessions, students discover that what the world deems failure can be outstanding success in God's eyes, that obedience to God is never defeat, and that Jesus' love and forgiveness are available even after the greatest personal failures. These studies help young people come to terms with their own limitations and receive the good news that God's grace—freely offered through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ—makes them a success in the ways that matter most.

Unit 4: Immanuel with Us (Advent)

Cherie Smith

This Advent unit provides ideas and activities that assist youth in preparing to celebrate Jesus' birth, exploring the many dimensions of what it means that God is truly with us. Over five sessions drawn from Isaiah, Matthew, and John, students encounter God as guide and mentor, explore the divine character embodied in Jesus, receive Isaiah's hopeful assurance that God is present in times of trouble, and wrestle with the mystery of the nativity. The unit culminates in a study of John 1:14-18 that invites young people to grasp the profound significance of the Word made flesh—a holy, all-powerful God choosing to enter human existence to be present in their lives.
