Challenges of the Christian Life

Study by Carol Davis Younger

A study of the “Challenges of the Christian Life” should not be easy to read, teach, learn--or write. One of the truths underlying each of the sessions in this study is that God is at work in us. Because we are not complete, we have the capacity to grow toward Christ or to move away from Christ. We all live with some degree of misplaced loyalty, confusion, and temptation. The way of the cross is difficult, and taking Jesus seriously means looking honestly at how we fall short of God’s best hopes for us and seeing how much we need God’s grace. For all of us there are times when we need to remember that Christ is our saving grace and recommit ourselves to the journey of faith, rediscovering, again and again, the life-giving purpose described in the book of Ephesians.

A part of the NextSunday Resources line of adult Bible studies, Challenges of the Christian Life contains five lessons for use as individual study or group discussion. Each study contains lessons on the biblical material, combined with an additional commentary from an alternate, but complementary, viewpoint.
