Your achievements represent hard work and dedication—a milestone—but you will discover that there are no resting places, just breathers along the way, for you must get on with the tasks of missions, education, and employment. You must certainly get on with the business of living.
Waiting During Advent
In the Advent/Christmas season, let me encourage you to learn how to wait. I know we don’t want to do that.
Crossroads: Waiting on the Lord
I find myself anxious a good bit of the time. I worry about what will happen, whether or not something will actually occur, and if things will turn out okay. It seems like Psalm 27 was written for worriers.
Crossroads: The Waiting Is Over!
Luke 2:22-40 Your Story Talk to your children about when they joined your family. Tell them how you felt as you first met them, when the wait was finally over. My Story and the Bible Story One Christmas as a child, I really wanted a toy called “GoGo My Walkin’ Pup.” She walked and barked, […]
Connections 12.06.2020: The Waiting Time
Do you like roller coasters? I confess that I liked them better when I was a younger woman. After the most recent time I rode one, it took me a couple of hours to recover from motion sickness.
Connections 07.19.2020: The Waiting
The waiting is the hardest part. In the parable found in this week’s lesson text, Jesus tells the story of a farmer who sowed good seed in a field, only to have an enemy sow weeds in the same field.
Crossroads: Waiting
The Israelites were waiting and watching for God. They were waiting for the Messiah to come, and with him, redemption. They waited for thousands of years, waiting and watching for God to arrive. And then, all of sudden, God was among them, in the form of Jesus.
Crossroads: Waiting
Have you ever had to wait for something that you were sure was going to happen? You wait with nervous anticipation, excited and scared at the same time. I went to Paris when I was 16. My mom and I traveled with my French teacher and other students and parents from my school.
Crossroads: The Shepherd Candle or Candle of Joy
Today we light the pink candle, known as the candle of joy. We also light the candle of hope as well as the candle of love. Today we remember that Jesus is the hope of the world.
Crossroads: The Bethlehem Candle or Candle of Love
Mary and Joseph waited for a miracle to happen for nine months. They knew that Jesus, the Son of God, would change their whole lives. And so they waited with anticipation for Jesus’ birth.
Crossroads: The Candle of Prophecy/Hope
Welcome to the first week of Advent! Advent is a time of preparation, when we wait and prepare for the Christ child. Each week you will light a new candle as we recognize the things that Christ brings to this world.
To Those Waiting and to Those Mourning on Mother’s Day
I don’t know how you feel. And that is my important disclaimer here. I don’t know what it’s like to wait months or even years, only to see a little negative sign that hurts in such a big way.
