Brief Description
Extensions is an undated adult Bible study resource which is organized by topic. Each book has five sessions with life-cycle options, complete with any needed reproducible handouts. The life-cycles are: Adults in College, Adults with Children, Adults without Children, and Launching Adults.
What is spirituality and how can we experience it? In many ways, today’s adults searching for spirituality have much in common with the followers of Christ who were coming to terms with his resurrections. Spirituality: Finding Your Way focuses on these resurrection narratives, encouraging Christians to explore their own assumptions about spirituality and challenging them to continue their quest for spiritual growth.
Session One: Genuine spirituality is not the appearance of piety or devotion, but the practice of seeking the presence of Christ. The session, Choosing a Direction, is designed to help learners understand the tools by which we will grow more spiritual in the most genuine sense of the word.
Session Two: Finding the Path lets us know that although daily life, with its frustrations, heartaches, and an unbelieving world, may cause us to think that Jesus is far away, he is not. We have just forgotten that we need to listen for Christ to call our name.
Session Three: Jesus asks hard, direct, and uncomfortable questions. His questions challenge us, open new outlooks, and lead us to a deeper faith. The session Caring for Fellow Travelers, lets us know that our path to spirituality involves caring for others.
Session Four: Reading a book and missing the point is easy. Nonetheless, the Holy Book is the indispensable guide to the Holy Company. The contemporary presence of the Risen Christ is understood through the witness of the New Testament. The biblical story is the one narrative that creates and sustains Christians. Following the Guide shows us that opening the Bible now will allow us to discover Jesus’ presence.
Session Five: Showing the Way encourages us to share our faith. Genuine spirituality leads to the authentic sharing of our faith.
