George Bernard Shaw said, “I am of the opinion that my life belongs to the community, and as long as I live, it is my privilege to do for it whatever I can.”
We are in all kinds of communities, and we should be grateful for each of them. There are of course the neighborhood we live in, the one we work in, our city or town. Our churches are communities of faith but also communities of friendship. When some of us gather regularly for coffee, we create a little community in the coffee shop. There are communities at work and other communities at clubs. When we travel in a group, or even take a cruise with strangers, we create temporary communities. It’s clear that we are naturally drawn to communities as places of nurture and comfort and support for one another.
List the communities in which you participate, and be grateful for all of them today.
