Editorial Associate

Job Description: Smyth & Helwys Publishing produces books and Bible study materials for individuals and churches under its imprints NextSunday Resources, Smyth & Helwys Books, and Peake Road Press. We are currently seeking a full-time Editorial Associate with responsibilities in content and copyediting, as well as a familiarity with book printing processes.

Candidates must possess at least a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. We require meticulous attention to detail and time management, strong verbal and written communication skills, and exceptional organizational skills.

Applicants must demonstrate an evident working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Adobe InDesign, along with the ability and willingness to learn. A strong biblical knowledge and church experience are a plus, but not necessary.

Candidate will serve as a representative of Smyth & Helwys, displaying courtesy, tact, consideration, and discretion in all interactions with the staff and with the public.

Function: Full-time, in-house position with responsibilities in supporting the work of the Production Division. This position reports to the Publisher. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Copy edit and format books and curriculum products, preparing them for content edit.

• Manage the calendar and flow of books through the production process, from manuscript submission to printer submission.

• Cold read various lines of curriculum and books, as per established guidelines and procedures.

• Manage submission of book products to various print and digital distributors.

• Consult and assist in production and marketing strategies as needed.

• Travel as necessary to participate in meetings, conventions, workshops, training events, and promotional activities.

• Provide assistance to the Publisher, at the Publisher’s request and discretion.
