In 1997, more than 3.2 million abused children were reported to protective service agencies in the United States. In these pages are the intimate voices of survivors of the anguish of domestic violence and sexual abuse in the home--the place that should be a haven of safety. There are also the voices that cry out form the pages of the Bbile, giving witness to violence through the ages. Finally, there is the story of the author’s own torment and horror-filled years and her healing road from victim to survivor through her faith in God and the will to live again.
The people you meet in these pages will challenge your awareness and disturb your compacency. They will inspire your spirit and break your heart. Their voices will plead with you for compassion....These voices will speak their deepest pain, and will dare us to hear with ears of compassion and then act with hands of determination. These voices will call the people of God to the ministry of healin, for the wounds these survivors carry are wounds that only God's grace can heal.
