A Heart for Missions is a local missions curriculum resource. The youth version involves the study of local missions from several perspectives to lead the youth to an integrative understanding of missions and the call of each Christian to respond to those needs. While using this module your youth will study missions through creative Bible studies, identify local missions needs, brainstorm solutions to those needs, and actually do local missions projects. The intent is for youth to further develop their faith by making connections between scriptural truth, personal identities, and the needs of the community in which the teens live.
Conducting the Sessions
The youth edition of A Heart for Missions includes five pairs of sessions. Each pair is alike in its structure. Borrowing from the medical motif used by the children, the sessions are organized in the Symptoms, Diagnosis, and Treatment format. This structure is a summary of the process of doing local missionsa Christian is one who becomes sensitive to a Symptom or problem in ones community, seeks understanding or develops a Diagnosis of the problem, and shows Christian compassion by enacting a Treatment Program.
