Brief Description
The world isn’t the same as it was in the 1950s. The kind of church that worked then probably wouldn’t work now. Today, we must be the church in a new place, in unimagined ways, and with a wider range of people. We are called to the radical and refreshing challenge of developing a “missional lifestyle.”

A missional lifestyle involves more than simply supporting missions and maintaining the church program. It is about sharing the love of Christ whether or not anyone joins our church! A missional lifestyle challenges us to be the presence of Christ in our community and in our world.

Approaching a Missional Mindset is a Bible study that will help you strive to live a missional lifestyle. As you or your class work through these lessons, this study will help you examine your passion for living as a Christian and think about what needs to be changed in your life. Perhaps you will emerge from this study transformed. Together, we can make these days the “good new days”!

A part of the NextSunday Resources line of adult Bible studies, Approaching a Missional Mindset contains four lessons for use as individual study or group discussion. Each study contains lessons on the biblical material, combined with an additional commentary from an alternate, but complementary, viewpoint.

Bo Prosser is the author of the Approaching a Missional Mindset study. He is Coordinator for Congregational Life with the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship in Atlanta and has served many years in the local church. He is a nationally-recognized speaker and workshop leader, as well as co-author of Lessons from the Cloth and Building Blocks for Sunday School Growth.

Tony Cartledge is the commentary writer for Approaching a Missional Mindset. He is Associate Professor of Old Testament at Campbell University Divinity School. He is the co-author of A Whole New World: Life After Bethany and Telling Stories: Tall Tales & Deep Truths.
