Words by Nan Allen
Composed by Dennis Allen
Written for the Samford University B.S.U., "Many Gifts" has a wonderful appeal for the college choir with a directive suitable for any service concerning the body of Christ. The formal structure used here by Mr. Allen is thoroughly fluent and the style (a "Christian Rock" character) is wholly utilized and nuance is not neglected.
Demonstration is the best introduction for this piece to your singers. Be sure to bring out the implied accents in both the piano and vocal parts regardless of the targeted dynamic level. Take care to study the vocal parts and to delineate passages mixed with ties and slurs. This is a very effective piece when all singers agree on this issue!
