"The Lord Bless You" is a fresh perspective on the familiar text from Numbers. The close harmonies have a number of unanticipated, though primed, turns that are easily taught intervalically in the parts. The encounter between the text and music is not forced, but flows naturally.
There is a mixture of homophony and polyphony in this piece that should be exploited on their occurrence. Require the singers to hear each successive pitch before they attempt to produce it. Choose a tempo that will allow the phrases to remain in tact and well supported. This is an important issue with this piece, so allow the music and text to interact.
