by Edward H. Hammett

Why has the church become such an irrelevant part of people's lives? Church consultant Edward Hammett addresses this question with alarming honesty. He pinpoints several areas where the church has grown ineffective over the decades. Hammett then gives helpful suggestions for the church to become healthy and effective again.

Making the Church Work includes sections covering these issues: why the church isn't working, the emerging leadership void, making the church of tomorrow work, the challenge of future trends, and converting the church for the 21st century.

Edward Hammett's belief in the ministry of the local church has led him to work toward reversing its growing ineffectiveness in our unchurched culture for more than 20 years. He serves as adjunct faculty and gust lecturer at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, and at the divinity schools at Campbell University and Gardner-Webb University. He has written articles for The Christian Education Journal and Faith at Work Magazine plus several other periodicals. He also contributed chapters to The Doctrine of the Laity and Facing Critical Issues in Christian Education. He is a consultant and conference leader for various denominations and local congregations.
