The marketplace is busy today. You are enjoying chatting with friends, but you find yourself increasingly distracted by someone across the street. There is something about his look, his mannerisms, the way he interacts with people that compels you to wander away from your friends, following him through the crowd. You intently watch his every move, hardly aware of others around you. Suddenly, he turns and looks directly at you. "What do you want?" Jesus asks. Face to face with Jesus, how do you respond? What do you say when you know your life is about to change?
So begins the journey. For the past 16 years, Jeanie Miley has been involved in leading retreats, workshops, and Bible studies, with an emphasis on contemplative prayer and spiritual formation. She is a graduate of the Spiritual Direction Institute of the Cenacle Retreat Center in Washington D.C., and has written two other books on contemplative prayer, The Spiritual Art of Creative Silence and Shared Splendor.
