Intersection for Younger Youth is a complete resource for teaching younger youth. This guide includes teaching procedures and reproducible resource pages. Intersection combines active, creative learning approaches with quality Bible study.
Why did Jesus die on the cross? Christians know that Jesus died for our sins, but many of us cannot explain or elaborate how Jesus' death helps us. The Bible presents many ideas on the subject, and throughout church history, Christians have viewed the cross in a variety of ways. This unit explores three dominant explanations: Jesus died a sacrificial death for sinners; Jesus died to prove Gods love for us; and Jesus died and rose to demonstrate his victory over evil and death.
Session One invites youth to explore the image of the blood of Jesus as a way to enhance their understanding of the cross. Moreover this session will help younger youth discover that Jesus gave his life for them.
Session Two guides youth toward the affirmation of Christs victory over kinds of evil that they see around them. Younger Youth may have difficulty understanding sin, death, and evil as terms of personified evil forces. By coming to earth in a human being, God in Christ did battle with these forces and won victory over them on the cross.
Session Three allows us to witness Gods love on the cross. This session makes us aware of Gods deep love for us and encourages us to move toward a deeper love for Christ.
