Brief Description

Intersection for Younger Youth is a complete resource for teaching younger youth. This guide includes teaching procedures and reproducible resource pages. Intersection combines active, creative learning approaches with quality Bible study.

In these sessions, young people will grapple with their definitions of success, especially in the context of competition. What exactly is success? Why do we spend so much time trying to achieve it? Why do we feel we need to put others down in order to build ourselves up? Why does Jesus make a big deal about our "becoming last" if we really want to become first?

Session One Mark 9:33-37 deals with the issue of competition head-on. How do you become the best that you can be? How do you better yourself for the right reasons? How do you avoid becoming a martyr when you stop racing to the top?

Session Two Following your bliss sounds terribly un-Christian initially--terribly selfish. However, in Romans and 1 Corinthians we are called to use our gifts. There is a holiness about our gifts; a bliss. "The gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable," says Romans 11:29. "Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit" according to 1 Corinthians 12:4. This is echoed in Romans 12:6a: "We have gifts that differ."
