Brief Description
The Single Units are a four-session stand-alone unit designed to supplement your FaithSteps curriculum. The Single Units may be used with regular FaithSteps Sunday school teaching plans; as stand-alone resources for other children’s Bible study opportunities; or, to complement and give greater depth to other children’s curriculum. Single Units offer a refreshing source for varying children’s learning experiences, while retaining the benefits of an established curriculum series.

Old Testament Prophets Speak for God examines the calling and mission of four Old Testament prophets. The timeless message of these prophets was wrapped in the symbolism and poetic imagery of their day. The children will be challenged by the message of these great Old Testament leaders. This unit of study will enable them to gain a deeper understanding of God’s intentions for our world. It can also strengthen their faith as they seriously consider God’s word and their participation with it.

Session 1 Central Themes
Preschool: God helps me when I am scared.
Early Reader: God tells us of God’s love through other people.
Middle: Prophets make us aware of God. They remind us of God’s love.
Older: A prophet is God’s messenger who reminds the people of God’s covenant.

Session 2 Central Themes
Preschool: God cares about the poor.
Early Reader: God cares about all people and we should do right by them.
Middle: Justice is doing what is right for people. We should look to God to do justice.
Older: Justice is doing what is right for people. God demands justice and righteousness for all people.

Session 3 Central Themes
Preschool: God loves me even when I do wrong.
Early Reader: Sometimes I make mistakes. God still loves, and forgives, me.
Middle: God will always love me. I should ask God to forgive me when I do wrong.
Older: In light of our bad choices, God’s love is never-ending. We should seek God’s forgiveness even when we do wrong.

Session 4: Central Themes
Preschool: God’s love goes on forever.
Early Reader: God will always love God’s people.
Middle: Long before Jesus was born, God’s people expected a messiah to bring them hope.
Older: God loved God’s people so much that God would send a messiah to bring hope.
