Joyful Giving Comes from Above will help children learn that choosing to give gladly demonstrates our love for God and God's love for all. Children also learn that Jesus is God's perfect gift to us.
Session 1
Key Verse: Each of you must give as you have made up your mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 2 Corinthians 9:7
Central Themes:
Preschool: We are to share gladly.
Early Reader: We can choose to give gladly.
Middle: We can choose to give willingly and gladly.
Older: We can choose to give willingly, sacrificially, and gladly.
Session 2
Key Verse:
all shall give as they are able, according to the blessing of the Lord your God that he has given you. Deuteronomy 16:17
Central Themes:
Preschool: We share what we have with others.
Early Reader: We give from what we have to others.
Middle: We give generously what we have to others to show Gods love.
Older: We give joyfully and generously what we have as a witness of our love for God and for others.
Session 3
Key Verse: And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Colossians 3:17
Central Themes:
Preschool: We share because we love Jesus.
Early Reader: We give to others because we love Jesus.
Middle: We give to others out of our love for Jesus and as a way to tell others about Jesus.
Older: The true Christian life gives, acts, and speaks for Jesus sake as though Jesus were doing it himself.
Session 4
Key Verse: Every generous act of giving, with every perfect gift, is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change. James 1:17
Central Themes:
Preschool: God loves us and gave us Gods son Jesus.
Early Reader: God loved us and gave us the best, most perfect gift, Gods son Jesus.
Middle: Out of Gods love for us and our love for God, we give joyfully, knowing that God gave us the perfect gift in Jesus.
Older: All generous acts of giving are from God who gave us the perfect gift in Jesus.
