"Hosea: Revealing God's Love" is a six session Bible study for adults, including learner's materials, teaching guides, and handouts.
This unit is drawn from the prophecy and experience of Hosea. Hosea lived some 2700 years ago. In Hosea, we will see Israel chase after other gods, forget how God delivered her from Egypt, and offer half-hearted repentance. We will see clearer into the heart of God by watching Hosea's heart ache over Gomer's unfaithfulness. In Hosea we see the reality of God's judgment and the strength of God's grace.
Session One explores questions such as, How do our choices reflect our identity and purpose in life? Upon what do we rely for making choices, both difficult and simple? What is the relationship between our choices and God's desire to redeem us as Christians?
Session Two examines the promise made by the people of Israel and see how they stuck to their promise. Through this session, you will discover that no matter how unfaithful we might be God is always faithful.
Session Three discovers how stubborn the people of Israel are and how God responds to their stubbornness. How do you respond to someone whose faith has become irrelevant?
Session Four addresses desires. This session allows us to look at our desires and what God desires.
Session Five discusses what kind of parent God is to Israel. God desires for each of us to walk according to God's plan. When we falter, God sees us and, because of God's compassion for us, God disciplines us. In describing God as a parent, God characterizes each of the stereotypical roles of father and mother.
Session Six helps us to see the difference between one who is not wise and discerning and one who is wise and discerning. How can Hosea be a source of hope for someone today?
