"Facing Life's Challenges" is a four session Bible study for adults, including learner's materials, teaching guides, and handouts. The teaching guide is options-based, so teachers can customize sessions to match their favorite approach.
"Facing Life’s Challenges" is the common thread that binds this unit. These Bible Study sessions explore four significant challenges common to most people of faith. They are challenges faced by every generation of believers.
Session One can challenge adults to look at God's revelation in a new light. Is it possible that Gods revelation is not static and set in stone, but fluid and creative? With each unveiling of Gods revelation, we can see something old and familiar, but might we not also behold something new and peculiar with each disclosure? Can God not fashion Gods Word to a particular age and place?
Session Two makes the observation that time gets by us quickly. The incessant demands that tug at our time and energy can often leave us weary, fragmented, and depleted. We face the challenge of times limits, and we wonder how best to live in the limited time we have. How might the Bible help us meet the challenge of times limits?
Session Three leads adults to think about lifes most troubling and unanswerable circumstances and how faithful Christians can best face such situations. By examining the story of Job, adults can understand that silence, in the face of mystery, is sometimes better than pat, easy answers.
Session Four allows adults to think about their spirituality and the ways in which their attitudes and behaviors are an encouragement or a hindrance to persons with differing opinions concerning faith and practice.
